There’s an incredible team of coaches and volunteers who are dedicated to making the Shark Waves a success. We are coached by wonderful, highly-qualified, and caring people; and all our aquatic coaches have been certified by Special Olympics NY. Most of our many amazing volunteers are students at Chaminade High School, as well as some from several other area high schools.
Our goals for the Shark Waves are to teach swimming in a safe, competitive, fun environment and to teach teamwork. We are a competition swim team and expect our athletes to participate in tournaments sponsored by Special Olympics NY. (The dates for all upcoming swim tournaments this season will be posted on this website. Once we determine which ones we plan to attend, we will ask you to indicate which ones your athlete plans to participate in and coordinate details.)
We want to have happy, successful athletes who can look at their participation in this program and be proud of their accomplishments. Results will vary with different levels of raw talent, coordination, strength, and the desire to excel. However, as with all competitive sports, you will get back what you put into the sport.
